Package binutils is not installed

Hello Guru

After downloading Redhat Linux 4 on VMware I run the following script to chk rpm

rpm -q glibc glibc-common gcc gcc-c++ libstdc++ libstdc++-devel libaio \ binutils make compat-db gnome-libs pdksh sysstat its show all rpm good but in binutils its sows that

package binutils is not installed.

After that i run the following script

#rpm -qa|grep binutils

Its show the binutils - 2.15.92.0.2-22

so now what should i have to do to install package binutils

It is really hard to believe that such basic functionality as rpm -q should be buggy. Can you please double check for spelling mistakes and post the output directly from your shell.

Otoh Redhat Linux 4 (or are you talking about Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4? You should not be able to download that legally.) is really, really old. If it turns out that there is a problem no one is going to fix it.

Please also post the output of rpm --version.

in rpm --version its shows that

RPM version 4.3.3

and in rpm -v binutils its shows long detail that i can not able to post

And its a Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 for 64 bit version
